If you’re like me, nobody spoke to you about nutrition growing up. It wasn’t taught in school, your cafeteria served things like pizza, nachos and tater tots and there were soda machines everywhere peddling you sugar sweetened and toxic treats. So what happens when like me, you reach a point where you are suddenly 40 or more pounds overweight and your doctor is now talking to you about things like high cholesterol, diabetic medication or high blood pressure? Are you doomed to be unhealthy for life? Is this really a “normal” part of aging?

Many of my clients ask me how I have managed to keep the weight off after all these years. For those of you who don’t know me, I lost 50 pounds about 13 years ago and that loss is what catapulted me into the nutrition business and ignited a passion for being and feeling healthy that I never knew existed prior to my lifestyle shift.

How Addressing Our Physical Health Leads to Inner Healing

I still remember it like it was yesterday. I was 22, had a great paying job and was in the prime of my life…..right? Wrong. I was 40 pounds overweight, had no energy, and was tired CONSTANTLY no matter how many hours of sleep I got or how many naps I took. I was having headaches every day, and literally woke up one morning realizing that I was no longer me. What happened to me? Why was I no longer the happy, upbeat, fun loving person I had always been?  I realized that I just simply didn’t have any physical energy to be that person anymore, and that scared me.
